Opening Speech
“If I did not work with you or knew you, I would have thought you were a writer, instead of a visual person.” - ex CD.
So I’ve written blogs before. Both of them expired immaturely. Because like most blogs, they were created out of frustration and the desperate need to vent and rant and bitch about life. Otherwise, they were created out of narcissism. The need to tell the world about the existence of the author and the fabulousness or anguish of his life whilst demanding compliments, jealousy, sympathy or plain spam. All the ‘want to inform people about my life situation, update my family/friends back home, champion political candidate, save the environment’ reasons are bull. They are all very secondary. Trust me, I know. Some blog to make money. I commend that.
So back to my story, my two previous blogs which I maintained for more than a year each (which adds up to almost three years experience, wow!) dwindled and died a slow death - like most blogs. Some excuses include the lack of time, lack of interest et al but most importantly, I simply just got bored.
The two blogs were very much popular during their prime, attracting a number of readers and comments (which some blogger aim to acquire) and even invited guest bloggers to join in some discussion. However, I soon felt that the topics were repetitive and mundane, writing them took up too much of my time (mainly because I re-read my posts to ensure the very essence of me is there in each word, I’m anal that way) and I just didn’t have enough time or interesting events in my life that were worth blogging about. No, I don’t post song lyrics just to fulfill a daily post quota, not that I had a quota anyway. Before both blogs could have a well deserved conclusion or closure I removed them completely out of compulsive frustration. I couldn’t face the fact that something I started refuse to happen anymore. I had to end them. I bailed.
Then why did I start this blog again? I hear you ask. Because unlike the previous two which were posted anonymously, this one is me. On a website which I bought to promote me. And my portfolio lah. But mainly me. Also, I found a calling in my life which I tried to ignore or did successfully ignore earlier. Writing. I’ve done some writing the the past, I still write now. But of course, not professionally. Just, leisurely or just for the heck of it.
‘Conversations with Grey’ is a blog based on the concept of having, well, conversations with me. With a follow-up story accompanying them. Though I cannot guarantee that each dialogue happened word for word, I assure you, they happened. Also, I exaggerate - to give it a dramatic effect. Not always, but I do. Anyone who say they do not exaggerate are liars.
Right now, I’m so afraid that this project will also suffer a mid-life crisis in the near future, but I’m letting it glide. It will happen when it happen. Wing it and see what happens. Much of my personality and life stories will reveal in forthcoming writings.
Come have conversations with me. =)
