Finally getting a greenlight from my publicity manager to post this up online. Whee!

Since about two months ago, I’ve been busy running up and down to work on this really cool and exciting project, called the Emergency Festival! (Sebuah darurat dua minggu). This multi-arts ‘festival’ – though not in a celebratory kind of way – has a lot to do with our country’s history, particularly the highly questionable and violent 12 years of the Malayan Emergency, hence the title.

A team of 7 young artists (and I say artists with liberty, because you know, some of us (me) don’t really do art) got together and decided to do something just for the heck of it. In this 7, there are two writer/directors, a visual artist, one designer, one performing artists, one indie filmmaker, and one me. The initiator of the project wanted very much to remember the 60th anniversary of the darurat tanah melayu this year and sometime in the early few months of the year, started really looking into making the project a reality. I got roped in the very first session of briefing and according to one of them, I rose up the ranks of comrades pretty quick!

Anyway, please come to my festival. My art festival. I’m curating the exhibition part of it, called ‘12 Years’ and it’s FREE!~
